ABOUT THE BOOK
For years I have lived inside a tangle of dysfunction-twisted lies, spiritual manipulation, and love that felt like a test I could never pass. Narcissistic abuse had left me doubting my own thoughts, words and even my place in God's eyes. The family brokenness had poured onto me like a slow poison; one I did not recognize until my soul began to wither. But God never let me go. Not once. Healing began the moment I called out to him, “Lord, I need you, I can't do this by myself.” He answered, not always in loud miracles but in steady mercies. In counselors who spoke truth. In scripture that felt alive. In the courage He placed inside me. There were days I felt as fragile as glass, then God reminded me, “The Lord is near the broken hearted and saves those crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18 (NIV). I slowly learned that Healing wasn't about staying silent to keep the peace. It was about telling my truth to help others heal from toxic family members. Learning to set boundaries without guilt. Honoring family doesn't mean tolerating harm. When all else fails, you must walk away and it is biblical to do that. Most of all learning that your identity is not built on others but on God's unwavering love. By releasing the family into the hands of the only one who can truly redeem them. May we all learn to be held by grace and led by hope.
"The same Spirit that carried you through the abuse will carry you into restoration."
About The Author
Held by Grace
Led by Faith
For 25 years now, I have been devoted to my calling as a wife and mother, raising two children who are now pursuing their college journeys. My life has been shaped not only by love and commitment, but by seasons of deep spiritual refinement. I have always been a spiritual person and have had a personal relationship with the Lord. However, my journey into spiritual recovery began when I faced the painful reality of narcissistic abuse within the family that I married into. My path has not been without heartache, experiencing narcissistic abuse within family relationships led me into one of the most difficult and holy seasons of my life. Through that journey, God revealed himself as a healer, protector, and restorer. Through scripture I've found clarity, through prayer I found courage, through surrender I found peace. What once felt like betrayal became the doorway to transformation. I learned that walking away from toxicity is obedience. Now through my story I am dedicated to helping others recognize manipulation and reclaim their God-given identity and break generational cycles through faith. I believe that when we choose God's truth over fear we step into divine restoration. Brandy Shaffett
